17th Ribs & Blues Festival Whitsun

Ribs & Blues is the largest (free) blues and roots festival of the Netherlands. More than 50.000 visitors are expected during the Whitsun Weekend (18-19-20 May 2013) on the festival terrain in the centre of Raalte. Each year there is a blues and americana worthy international line-up with top names. Check out the names that are confirmed for this year (Artiests) or the names that were booked in previous years (Historie). The 17th Ribs & Blues festival is free of charge for all visitors, both afternoons (19 and 20 of May) as from 1.00 PM. More than 20 bands from the US, Great Britain and the Netherlands are playing at the Main Stage or the Open Air Stage. On Saturday eve the 18th of May on the same festival terrain there will be the traditional Pre Party with nobody less than 10CC, Level42 and DeWolff.

Ribs & Blues is a festival for young and old, for all music lovers and for people that love a good atmosphere with spare ribs, open air theatre and entertainment for the whole family. For the really young ones there is a safe and fun playground called Mini Kids World. For the somewhat older youth there is the exciting KidsAdventureland. Furthermore there will be international street theatre preformers and fun merchandise for sale in the special little houses, built in the style of the old south of the USA.

Last but not least there will be good food and drinks. For the lovers of spareribs we serve the best spareribs from the Netherlands, directly from te original Oklahoma Joe’s. For the users of a wheel chair there is a special platform.

Al this is made possible in the jovial regional Salland, thanks to the help of more than 850 volunteers and local clubs. Together with loyal sponsors they make it possible to organize a festival of this enormous extent for free. Ribs & Blues is a big festival but remains cosy and is certainly not a commercial party.
