16th Ribs and Blues Whitsun (Pentecost/Pinksteren)
Ribs and Blues expects this 16th year during the Whitsun weekend (27 and 28 May 2012) more then 50000 visitors on the festival terrain (the Domineeskamp) in the centre of Raalte, Overijssel at the largest, free blues festival of the Netherlands.
Each year again is a lot of energy, time and money invested in the international line-up with topnames (look at HISTORIE)
On Saturday the 26th of May on the same festival terrain, there will be the traditional party (Pinkster Party Raalte) beforehand.
The 16th Ribs and Blues festival on the two Whitsun days (in Dutch ‘Pinksteren’) on May 27 en 28 (2012) is as always free of charge for all visitors, both afternoons as from 1,00 pm. More than 20 bands from the US, Great Brittain and the Netherlands are coming to the big stage in a new bigger tent or on the second stage 'Open Air'. .
Yet, Ribs and Blues is and remains a festival for young and old, for the lovers of music and spare ribs, the entire family and all others. For the young ones there is their own safe and festive Kids Corner, for the somewhat older youth the exciting ‘Adventure Land’ and for everybody ‘ Theaterland’ with international street artists. And for the lovers of spareribs, on various locations we serve the best spare ribs from the Netherlands, directly from the original Cactus Jack’s and Oklahoma Joe’s.
This year again there will be a special platform for the users of a wheel chair. Also present in Raalte there will the only mobile tattoo studio. And there are cute curiosas for sale in the special little houses built in the style of the old south of the US. A lot of work is also being done on several special attractions.
All this in the jovial regional Salland sphere, thanks to the more than 750 volunteers who come into action this weekend. Ribs and Blues may then be large and cosy but certainly not a commercial party. Local clubs receive thousands of Euros for their cashier and their proven efforts. Together with loyal sponsors they make ir possible to organize a festival of this enormous extent.
